Thomas Toy

With more than 30 years of venture capitalist experience, including extensive public company board and committee experience, Tom is a Managing Director of SCV.  Tom has invested in early stage diversified IT, Healthcare and Clean Tech companies. He has served on boards of directors of numerous public and private companies, for which his expertise includes general business strategy, finance, marketing and sales, operations, corporate governance, special committees, investigations and audit committee. Tom’s current and past companies include:

  • Hanwha Q CELLS (NASDAQ: HQCL; acquired by Hanwha): Board member 2007-2015, former Chairman of the Audit Committee and Corporate Governance Committee

Tom graduated from Northwestern University with BA and MBA degrees. He taught the New Venture Finance course at San Francisco State’s MBA school, and is a regular volunteer panelist for the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce Job Forum.

Donavan Kealoha

Donavan is a venture capitalist, experienced entrepreneur and operator, and community organizer.  Donavan serves as Managing Director for SCV x SBI Fund.  In this role, Donavan manages the overall operations of the firm, leads investments in promising early-stage companies, and provides support and guidance to portfolio companies.  He currently sits on the board of directors of portfolio company Shifted Energy.

Prior to his current role, Donavan served as a Director with SCV Fund II, where he assisted the general partners in sourcing deals, conducting due diligence on potential companies, and managing companies post-investment. 

Donavan is an experienced entrepreneur and operator. Prior to joining SCV, Donavan co-founded Adama Materials, a venture-capital backed materials science company (SCV Fund I portfolio company). Donavan served as the company’s first CEO and president, then as its CFO and Director of Administration. In 2012, Donavan co-founded Asio Corporation, a software development consulting firm, specializing in software and systems engineering and community building strategies for government, foundations, and nonprofits.  In 2014, Donavan co-founded the Purple Maiʻa Foundation, a 501(c)(3) EdTech non-profit organization focused on education and empowering high opportunity youth in underserved Hawaii communities.

Donavan is a licensed attorney and a product of the Hawaiʻi public educational system. He holds a BA, and JD/MBA from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.

Seokjun Ko

Seokjun Ko (Ko) is the Head of the Silicon Valley office at SBI Holdings USA, Inc., and serves as Managing Director of the SCV x SBI Fund and Partner of the SBI US Gateway Fund. He oversees early-stage venture investments in the U.S. and also manages direct investments and strategic partnership initiatives for the SBI Group.

Previously, he was engaged in fintech, B2B SaaS, and AI investments across global markets within the SBI Group. He also served as a board director at portfolio companies including Amartha, a leading microfinance platform empowering women entrepreneurs in rural Indonesia, and Ralali.com, a B2B e-commerce marketplace headquartered in Singapore that serves SMEs across Southeast Asia.

Prior to joining SBI, Ko worked at J.P. Morgan’s Tokyo office in the Global Corporate Banking division as a coverage banker, managing relationships with large international corporates and fintech firms. He supported clients’ cross-border operations with a focus on financial and capital strategy.

Born in Seoul, South Korea, Ko holds a Bachelor’s degree from Waseda University’s School of International Liberal Studies. He also completed military service at the U.S. Army’s 2nd Infantry Division HQ in South Korea, where he served as a delegated senior leader and received top honors from the Department of the Army.

Olin Lagon

Venture Partner

Olin Lagon is an experienced entrepreneur and technologist.  Olin’s technical expertise is broad and multifaceted, spanning over two decades with many notable accomplishments along the way.  He is the author of over a dozen patents.  His designs have been adopted by Global 1000 companies across five different industries and his inventions have also been used in several institutions such as the Olympics and MIT.  Olin has spoken at conferences worldwide including a keynote speaker at Microsoft’s Annual Developers Conference (creating energy storage using machine learning and existing household appliances).
